Ultimate Diversity

Image taken from a blog I found on Google.

This is an example of how Indians can prove to themselves and others that they are one country and not divided by petty and utterly useless notions like Religion, Caste, Language, State etc...

Kudos to the MOM and the Kid for the choice.

What is needed of the people in a democracy

Was going over an article on psychology of democracy and author discuss the role of character in american political ideal and a few things sounded interesting, I am gonna list them here and expand more with my opinion later.

  • Advancing the ideal of "liberty and justice for all" requires a virtuous citizenry
  • Thomas Jefferson:
"democracy depends upon the cultivation of "public-spiritedness" which will not flourish spontaneously, but must be taught."
  • Benjamin Franklin:
"only a virtuous people are capable of freedom"
  • Theodore Roosevelt:
"educating a person in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society."
  • Alexis de Tocqueville:
It is clear that moral character is part of democratic functioning." Unfortunately, the development of democratic character has been neglected for generations.
